Overview:
Learn more about some of the best natural areas in the state with Peggy Ladner, director of The Nature Conservancy in Minnesota. Ladner is presenting a virtual tour of the Conservancy’s Minnesota preserves at Midwest Mountaineering’s annual winter Outdoor Adventure Expo on Saturday, November 21.

Ladner’s presentation will cover preserves ranging from the dense forests surrounding the Boundary Waters to tallgrass prairies that are home to eye-catching wildflowers and spectacular wildlife.

Since 1958, The Nature Conservancy has helped conserve more than 300,000 acres in Minnesota including Tettegouche and Nerstand-Big Woods state parks. Today, the Conservancy manages more than 50 preserves totaling over 72,000 acres. This vast network of privately-owned preserves is open to the public for compatible outdoor recreation.

Guided by science and in collaboration with partners, the Conservancy identifies high-priority landscapes that, if protected, can ensure the survival of Minnesota’s native plants, wildlife and their habitat.
