Overview:
Early summer is a good time to visit Weaver Dunes, one of the most important places for the threatened Blanding’s turtle. Join us for guided hikes and presentations. Light refreshments will be provided.

Weaver Dunes is part of a larger sand terrace 10 miles long and three miles wide. The remaining prairie is home to a large population of Blanding’s turtles as well as more than a dozen threatened plant species.

Location:
Weaver Dunes Preserve, near Kellogg, Minnesota

Directions:
To reach the Weaver Dunes Preserve SNA from the north, travel south on Highway 61 to Kellogg, MN. Turn left into Kellogg at the blue topped water tower. At the stop sign, turn right to get on Dodge Street, going south. Follow the signs to get onto County Road 84, going south. Travel 5.5 miles south of Kellogg to Township Road 141, a small sand road on the left. Turn left onto TWP 141, bear left at the fork, and there is a parking area at the end of the road.

To reach the Weaver Dunes Preserve SNA from the south, travel north on Highway 61 about two miles north of the town of Weaver. Between mile markers 48 and 49, County Road 84 will intersect on the right. Turn right onto County Road 84, winding north through wetlands. Travel two miles north on County Road 84 to Township Road 141, a small sand road on the right. Turn right onto Township Road 141, bear left at the fork, and there is a parking area at the end of the road.
