Date:
Saturday, August 2, 2008

Time:
9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Overview:
Trumpeter swans, once widely hunted, suffered a rapid extinction in Minnesota. Today these large waterfowl—adults can stand well over four feet high with a wingspan of nearly seven feet—can be found in the Tamarac Refuge.

Participants will meet at the refuge headquarters and spend the morning watching these graceful waterfowl and touring the refuge. Those who would like to stay later for more bird-watching should pack a lunch.

Registration/Fee:
Free. The group is limited to 16 people.
Reservations required; please contact Matt Mecklenburg at (218) 498-2679.

Meeting Location:
Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge
Rochert, Minnesota (18 miles northeast of Detroit Lakes)
