Date/Time:
Saturday, June 9, 2007, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Early summer is a good time to visit Weaver Dunes, one of the most important places for Blanding’s turtles in North America! A potluck lunch is at noon, and the day will include an update on the status of Weaver Dunes. There will also be walking tours, focusing on unique flora and fauna of the dunes, including amphibians, reptiles, birds and wildflowers. Female Blanding's turtles should be moving from the wetlands to the prairie to lay their eggs. Turtle expert Michael Pappas will give a presentation on the turtles of Weaver Dunes/Weaver Bottoms. The Southeast Minnesota Food Network will grill local bison burgers, brats and hotdogs. Please bring a food item to share for lunch.
