Details on Jackson Lane/Eaton's Pond Preserve

Jackson Lane is the site of our largest wetland restoration project to date.  During the summer months we have interns working on the property to control invasive species.  On rainy days they also do boundary work for us so some of the lines are well marked.  The interns aren't able to get to all of the lines though and we need help maintaining some of the more remote areas of the preserve.  This preserve is hunted by a club during deer season so avoid visiting at that time and wear orange as a precaution during other hunting seasons.

Some of the challenges at this preserve include swampy wet terrain, greenbrier, chiggers and ticks.  The best time to do boundary work will be the late fall and winter when leaves are down, visibility is good and the ticks have died off.   We have had neighbor relations problems and a few dumping incidents at this preserve.

Roadsides adjacent to our preserves are often the site of dumping of household trash or deer carcasses.  While unsightly and upsetting, this seldom has an ecological impact on the property so we often can't respond very quickly.
