Details for Selinger MarshThis is a small preserve so we only need 1 Boundary Walker. About half the boundary line is on roadside, so it will be easy to post, although those signs may be more subject to removal or target practice than the more remote signs. The rest of the line goes through forested upland. The elevation of the lines ranges from 800 to 900 feet, with a couple of moderately steep sections, but most lines are on a gentle or moderate slope. There is only one neighbor so there is little likelihood of encroachment, but if you see some we want to know about it. This preserve is not hunted, but an adjacent tract is hunted by a local club, so it would be best to avoid doing boundary work during hunting season. See the DNR website for each year's schedule. Roadsides adjacent to our preserves are often the site of dumping of household trash or deer carcasses. We don't have much history of that here, but it could happen. While unsightly and upsetting, this seldom has an ecological impact on the property so we often can't respond very quickly. In short, nothing much happens at this preserve and that's the way we like it. Hopefully the volunteer here preserve will have a pleasant, peaceful nature experience as they are helping us to make sure our property is marked.
