Help Remove Invasive VinesLocation: Fort Marcy, McLean, VA (15 minutes from DC) 10am-12pmCome on out and help us cut invasive bittersweet vines off the trees at Fort Marcy, along the George Washington Memorial Parkway near Chain Bridge. After cutting the plants with loppers and hand saws a Conservancy staffer paints the stumps with an herbicide to stop resprouting. Members of the Appalachian Mountain Club will go on a hike afterwards, and you are welcome to join them for the hike through the forests at Turkey Run. Please contact us for directions, and state where you are driving from--Fort Marcy is hard to get to! To sign up and get directions, contact Jamie or Mary at PotomacGorgeVol (at) tnc.org or call 301-897-8570. |
