February 11, 2010: Invasives removal workday at Turkey Run Park
Join us for our continued work to control invasives at Turkey Run with members of the Virginia Native Plant Society. We'll be cutting down invasive shrubs and vines along the edges of the forests.

February 20, 2010: Invasive Removal Project near Chain Bridge
Join us and the Virginia Native Plant Society to tackle Linden viburnum and English ivy near Chain Bridge, off the George Washington Memorial Parkway. (please note meeting location and hiking time)

March 13, 2010: English Ivy Saw-Down along the C&O Canal
Anyone who drives or hikes along the C&O Canal near Locks 10-5 knows just how bad the English Ivy has become--join us as members of the Appalachian Mountain Club help us tackle this infestation. The trees could use all of our help to save them from these huge vines!

March 16, 2010: Environmental Film Festival in the Nation's Capital
From March 16-18, join The Nature Conservancy for the 18th Annual Environmental Film Festival in the Nation's Capital. The festival will feature more than 130 films, including two produced by the Conservancy, providing fresh perspectives on environmental issues facing our planet.

April 01, 2010: April Fool's Day is for Pulling Garlic Mustard!
Let's play a trick on garlic mustard, and pull it up by the roots! Join us to tackle garlic mustard where it's trying to push out the wildflowers and tree seedlings at Turkey Run Park. This event supported by members of the Virginia Native Plant Society.

April 08, 2010: 2010 John Friend Cave Preserve Tree Planting
We welcome you to join us in planting native trees and shrubs at our John Friend Cave preserve.

April 15, 2010: 2010 Jackson Lane Preserve Tree Planting
Join us for a nature tree and shrub restoration workday as we plant native trees and shrubs at our Jackson Lane preserve, and help continue our efforts to restore a cut-over field to its former glory.

April 17, 2010: Garlic Mustard pull at Turkey Run Park near DC!
Join us to pull garlic mustard with members of the Virginia Native Plant Society. This exotic plant is crowding out wildflowers and threatening the forest, and we need your help!

April 18, 2010: 2010 Earth Day 5K
Join us to run for nature! Pacers Running Stores is hosting the 2nd annual Earth Day 5K race to benefit The Nature Conservancy.

April 24, 2010: 2010 Spruce Planting Workday
Please join us as we transport red spruce seedlings rescued from a West Virginia right-of-way and replant them on a beautiful preserve. This is the last of a 3-year "follow-up" planting effort at this preserve.
