9:00 am to 12 pm
Overview:
Atlantic white cedar swamps are at the northern limit of their range in Maine and the swamp found at Appleton Bog is one of only two major Atlantic cedar swamps in the state. Join Nancy Sferra, Director of Science and Stewardship, for a hike into the preserve where we will talk about the ecology of cedar and the threats to this rare natural community. Since cedars grow in wet areas, you should plan on getting your feet wet and be prepared to hike up to four miles over uneven terrain. Moderately strenuous, some hiking off trail. Limit to 20 participants. As space is limited, reservations are required.
To Register:
Please email maine_events@tnc.org, indicate which trip, number and names of participants and your contact information.
