Why the Conservancy Selected This Site
Hazeldell is the only representative in Kentucky of a Highland Rim Wet Barrens natural community, and is home to several state endangered or threatened species, all of which depend on open conditions. The Conservancy purchased the tract in 1997 with the help of gifts from Dr. Julian Campbell, Randy Seymour and the East Kentucky Power Cooperative.

What the Conservancy Has Done/Is Doing
The key objectives are protection of this rare open, community type including monitoring of rare species.
