'Homage to the Flint Hills'
Inspires Appreciation, Protection
The beauty and majesty of the Kansas Flint Hills come to life in a traveling art exhibit and book assembled by Don Lambert, Topeka freelance writer and art promoter. The popular exhibit is helping awaken Kansans and others to the wonders of the Flint Hills, which the Conservancy is working to protect.
The greater Flint Hills area is by far the largest tallgrass prairie landscape on the North American continent, with more acres remaining than in all the other prairie states and provinces combined.
Lambert says the exhibit is designed to “touch a chord, to let people know this is a significant area. So many artists have been drawn to the Flint Hills. There’ve been exhibits of Flint Hills-inspired works for many years, but before no one has put this kind of traveling exhibit in a package.”
Homage to the Flint Hills features 37 works of art, each depicting the Flint Hills and each by a different artist. The collection includes painting, photographs, fiber, ceramic and video. |
