Two Challenge Opportunities now Available for Gifts to The Campaign for Conservation

This spring, the Conservancy in Iowa announced the receipt of a $500,000 challenge grant from The Kresge Foundation. This all or nothing challenge grant is contingent on the Conservancy in Iowa reaching its goal of $9.5 million for its first capital campaign: Saving the Last Great Places in Iowa: The Campaign for Conservation. If the $9.5 million goal is met by February 1, 2008, The Kresge Foundation will donate $500,000 to the campaign for acquisition of prairie in Iowa's three prairie landscapes - the Loess Hills, Little Sioux Valley and Grand River Grasslands.

Now, an unnamed foundation from the Sioux City area has made an addition challenge to Conservancy members and donors. In order to cover the increased expenses associated with bison reintroduction at Broken Kettle Grasslands in the Loess Hills, the unnamed foundation will match all gifts designated to the Broken Kettle Endowment dollar for dollar, up to $150,000.

Gifts designated to the Broken Kettle Grasslands Endowment will also count toward The Kresge Foundation's challenge grant, giving members the opportunity to use one gift to The Campaign for Conservation to leverage conservation dollars from both foundations.
