Volunteer Opportunities at the Brown County Hills Project Office
The Nature Conservancy’s Brown County Hills Project currently has the following volunteer opportunities available. To learn more about any one of these, please contact Julie Kempf at either jkempf@tnc.org or call 812-988-0246. Writing and/or EditingTwice a year, we publish a newsletter called Understory. Articles and stories revolve around the Brown County Hills, and inform our readers about history, species, people, science and advice for landowners. Opportunities include interviewing people, writing, and editing. Let Julie know if you would like to assemble the newsletter using InDesign, or other publishing program. Field StewardshipEnjoy the beauty while helping to protect the places we protect. Trail maintenance and invasive species control are the main stewardship events hosted by the staff of the Brown County Hills. Work days are normally from 10 am to 2 pm, and are announced a couple of months in advance. PhotographyPhotos are a big part telling the stories of The Nature Conservancy. We are looking for more photos of the Brown County Hills to use in our newsletters, website, and other educational outlets. These can be submitted at any time, or if you prefer, we can provide a directed assignment. Some examples are forested landscapes, events, volunteers, and photos relating to our newsletter articles. General Office WorkFrom time to time, Brown County Hills sends out mailings or packets to local residents. You would help collate the packets and or fill envelopes to mail. Staff members may be available to help assemble the packets with you. This would be great time to talk with the staff of the Brown County Hills or to answer any questions you may have about The Nature Conservancy. Local ExpertiseDo you have knowledge or expertise in plants, animals, or specialized skill? If so, let us know! We’d love to incorporate your knowledge into our conservation work. |
