Blue River

The Blue River:
A Short Film Created for The Nature Conservancy in Indiana by Ravenswood Media

Blue River Project Office

The Nature Conservancy in Indiana established the Blue River Project Office in 1994. Since then, staff has been working hard to protect habitat for rare and endangered species - such as the Hellbender salamander and Indiana bat - and the habitats they need to survive. Protecting water quality is also a top priority in preserving these and other species of the Blue River. Clean water is an essential component to the natural communities that are part of the Blue River basin as it feeds the caves as well as supports the varied plant and wildlife that exist in the area.

The Nature Conservancy is proud to have partnered with local landowners and organizations to achieve meaningful conservation results in the counties that the Blue River basin lies. With their help, the Conservancy can ensure that the lands and waters of the Blue River area will be protected for generations to come.
