Volunteer Workdays

Internships aren't the only way to help The Nature Conservancy in Indiana. Come to any of our stewardship workdays and get your hands dirty with the land stewards and restorationists who are working to protect and preserve some of the most beautiful places in Indiana.

Indianapolis Internships

Philanthropy internships are also available at the Conservancy's office in Indianapolis.

Ever wondered what it would be like to work as a land steward for The Nature Conservancy? Here's your chance! Internship opportunities are now available here in Indiana.

Indiana Conservation Practitioner Internships

All Conservation Practitioner Internship positions are an 8 week unpaid internship position. The internship is intended to provide the intern with valuable work experience, guidance and hands on practice of on the ground conservation in exchange for structured volunteer work by the participant. Upon successful completion of the internship, The Nature Conservancy will provide a letter of recommendation or fulfill any reference requests.

Internships are available in three regions: north central, northeast and southeast Indiana.

  • The North Central Conservation Practitioner Intern will participate in preserve operations, maintenance and management on preserves located in the North Central Indiana region - which includes St. Joseph, LaPorte, Marshall, Starke, Jasper, Tippecanoe, Warren and White Counties - with an emphasis on habitat restoration.

  • The Internship in Northeast Indiana will focus on the Douglas Woods Nature Preserve in Steuben/Dekalb County with an emphasis on habitat restoration. Intern may also assist staff from the Upper St. Joseph Office (in Angola) on projects in the Fish Creek Watershed.

  • The Blue River Stewardship Intern participates in preserve operations and management in southeastern Indiana, mostly in Harrison County. The intern will conduct intensive habitat restoration of glades, barrens and forests and may assist with other preserve duties as required.

Contact the appropriate land steward for more information and/or if you'd like to apply to one these incredible learning experiences.
