The Nature Conservancy's work with the Invasive Species Task Force
The Indiana Invasive Species Task Force was created through resolutions by the Indiana General Assembly. The resolutions were cited by the Indiana Legislative Council when they directed the Natural Resource Study Committee to study the impacts of Invasive Species and to report back to the Council. The resolutions directed the task force to "study the economic and environmental impacts of invasive species in Indiana and provide findings and recommendations on strategies for prevention, early detection, control and management of invasive species to minimize these impacts”.
The task force was directed to provide their report and recommendations to the Natural Resources Study Committee when it first meets in 2008. The Natural Resources Study Committee shall issue a final report with recommendations to the Legislative Council by November 1, 2008.
The Department of Natural Resources invasive species website is under construction. All new information and information regarding the work of the Task Force will reside on that page when construction is finished. You may go to their website at: www.invasivespecies.in.gov.
