Barrington

Citizens for Conservation workdays
This Saturday, November 24, will be our last workday of seed sowing. Starting the following Saturday December 1, we will begin our brush cutting season. Yes, it will be brush cutting and clearing every Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. until next spring. This is where restoration begins – with clearing the land – so please join us in this important task. The more we clear, the more we can restore to high-quality prairies, savannas and wetlands!

For the workdays, meet at the CFC office at 459 West Highway 22 in Lake Barrington. We're the white farmhouse across from Good Shepherd Hospital. Dress for the weather and bring work gloves. We’ll provide the tools but, if you prefer, you can bring your own loppers or hand clippers.

CFC Burn Volunteers --- Burn season has begun. We could do a controlled burn anytime from now until early April as long as the conditions are right. We may call you on short notice - weekdays or weekends - so if you can't make it, that's OK. We will call the next person on our list. If you don’t know what’s involved in a controlled burn, call Melissa at the number below and she’ll be happy to explain it to you before you commit yourself.  So, "newbies" and veteran burn volunteers, please call Melissa Washow at 847-381-9196. We would like everyone to call so that Melissa can bring her list up-to-date for 2007/08. Give us this information: Name, phone number, days/times when you would most likely be available for a burn. Thank you!
