New Associate Director of Government Relations Hired to Support The Nature Conservancy’s Illinois Chapter

Chicago—Ocotober 20, 2005—The Illinois Chapter of The Nature Conservancy announced the addition of Susan Donovan to its government relations team today.

Donovan, the associate director of government relations, will work closely with state officials on administrative matters and legislation relating to conservation. She will also represent the Conservancy before state and local agencies and other organizations, and will help build grassroots support for statewide policy goals that advance the Conservancy’s mission.

“We’re delighted to have Susan on staff,” said Michael Reuter, Chief Conservation Officer for The Nature Conservancy’s Illinois Chapter. “Her experience and insight will help the Conservancy be a more effective partner in the conservation of important lands and waters. The people of Illinois recognize that the quality of our communities and economies depend on a healthy environment. Susan will work with Illinois lawmakers and leaders to influence policy, legislation and funding that protects our natural heritage for ourselves and future generations.”

Donovan comes to the Conservancy after two years with Chicago Women in Trades, a nonprofit organization dedicated to women’s economic equality. There she developed and advanced public policy through statewide legislation and partnerships with public agencies and the private sector. Prior to that, she worked as a senior proposal writer for Apple Computer. Her career includes close to a decade of government relations and communications work for the Iowa Association of School Boards.

Donovan, 38, resides in Chicago.
