July 12, 2009: Nachusa -- Savanna Walk
Hike through the savanna at Nachusa Grasslands preserve, where it's cooler in the shade.

July 18, 2009: Science Saturday -- Indian Boundary Prairie July Tour
Discover the rare natural treasures in the Chicago area through guided tours lead by Indian Boundary Prairie scientists. Families will learn about the importance of this cluster of prairies that has remained intact despite nearby urban development. Children will learn about the prairie and participate in a catch and release insect activity.

August 2009

August 15, 2009: Nachusa -- Hike Until the Fat Coyote Howls
Hike through Nachusa Grasslands preserve at sunset until the fat coyote howls. Remember to bring a flashlight. Stay to watch the Perseid Meteor Shower, if you wish.

September 19, 2009: Nachusa -- 20th Annual Autumn on the Prairie Celebration
Join the 20th Annual Autumn on the Prairie Celebration at Nachusa Grasslands preserve! Imagine Illinois in the 1800's! Wild walks will be led by different expert leaders. Hikes leave every 20 minutes throughout day.

Experience a nature walk downtown before you start the work day! Register for this special opportunity to join Jo Seagren, Conservancy member and amateur naturalist, as she guides a group through Millennium Park on a bird and plant appreciation walk.

October 11, 2009: Nachusa -- Introduction to Seed Picking
Join an introduction to seed picking on the prairie at Nachusa Grasslands preserve. Tools and containers are provided. The prairie always needs more seed collected. Come help us and have fun too. Ride in the pickup truck. See several different areas of the preserve.

November 2009

November 07, 2009: Nachusa -- End of Seed Picking
It's the end of seed picking for another year at Nachusa Grasslands preserve. Join the seed celebration potluck at 12:00pm. Take a preserve tour at 2:00pm with Bill Kleiman, Nachusa Grasslands Preserve Director.

December 13, 2009: Nachusa -- Holiday High Calorie Long Hike
Walk the western boundary of Nachusa Grasslands preserve from Naylor Road to Stone Barn Road.
