Directions to Kootenai Field Days 2006

Event directions and map (All directions from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Interstate 90)

  1. Weed Awareness Day 
    Ball Creek Ranch, Visitor’s Center
  2. Take Highway 95 north toward Sandpoint and Canada. Pass through Sandpoint and continue on 95 north following signs for Bonners Ferry. Travel through Bonners Ferry and continue on 95 as it heads down hill towards downtown. Before crossing over the Kootenai River, turn left (west) on Riverside Street (the last left before crossing over the Kootenai River) and follow signs for the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge. Continue on Riverside as it becomes County Road 18 and parallels the river. The road passes through the wildlife refuge and becomes the West Side Road. After passing the refuge visitor’s center, continue on the West Side Road for approximately 6 miles until you cross over Ball Creek. The Ball Creek visitor’s center (white house with green roof and trim) is on the left. Contact information: Justin Petty at (208) 267-9629.

  3. From Contact to Present
    Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge, Environmental Education Center
  4. Take Highway 95 north toward Sandpoint and Canada. Pass through Sandpoint and continue on 95 north following signs for Bonners Ferry. Travel through Bonners Ferry and continue on 95 as it heads down hill towards downtown. Before crossing over the Kootenai River, turn left (west) on Riverside Street (the last left before crossing over the Kootenai River) and follow signs for the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge. Continue on Riverside as it becomes County Road 18 and parallels the river. The road passes through the wildlife refuge and becomes the West Side Road. 3. Kootenai River Paddle  Boundary County, Deep Creek Boat Launch

Highway 95 north toward Sandpoint and Canada. Pass through Sandpoint and continue on 95 north following signs for Bonners Ferry. Travel through Bonners Ferry and continue on 95 as it heads down hill towards downtown. Before crossing over the Kootenai River, turn left (west) on Riverside Street (the last left before you cross the bridge over the Kootenai River) and follow signs for the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge. Continue on Riverside as it becomes County Road 18 and parallels the river. Turn right off the County Road into the boat launch before you cross over Deep Creek. 4. American Mountain Men Spring Encampment 
Ball Creek Ranch, Trout Creek area

Take Highway 95 north toward Sandpoint and Canada. Pass through Sandpoint and continue on 95 north following signs for Bonners Ferry. Travel through Bonners Ferry and continue on 95 as it heads down hill towards downtown. Before crossing over the Kootenai River, turn left (west) on Riverside Street (the last left before crossing over the Kootenai River) and follow signs for the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge. Continue on Riverside as it becomes County Road 18 and parallels the river. The road passes through the wildlife refuge and becomes the West Side Road. After passing the refuge visitor’s center, continue on the West Side Road for approximately 6 miles until you cross over Ball Creek. The Ball Creek visitor’s center (white house with green roof and trim) is on the left.
