Projects - Mauna Loa Trail System

Mauna Loa Trail System map

The proposed trail system will encircle Mauna Loa at mid-elevations and will be accessible from the Mamalahoa Highway and Saddle Road at several locations. The total length of the trail system will exceed 350 miles.

Mauna Loa on the Island of Hawai'i has been proposed as a site for a spectacular long-distance trail system with potential cultural, educational and economic benefits.

Read a Conservancy press release about the proposal, "Mauna Loa Proposed as Site for World-Class Trail System."
