Ruth and Tom McMullin
At home in The Landings community of Savannah, Ruth and Tom McMullin are surrounded by lush tidal marshes and diverse wildlife – daily reminders of why they have supported The Nature Conservancy for 35 years.

“It’s easy for us to identity with The Nature Conservancy’s mission,” said Tom. “The organization is distinguished by its non-confrontational approach and its ability to work with partners.”

When the couple first joined The Nature Conservancy, Ruth was volunteering as a nature guide at the Conservancy’s Devil’s Den Preserve in Connecticut.

After moving to Savannah, Ruth and Tom have remained active members. Together, they chaired the 2005 Fall Celebration of the Georgia Coast, and Tom is a valued member of the Conservancy’s Coastal Advisory Council.

Avid outdoor enthusiasts, Ruth and Tom discovered kayaking during a Conservancy field trip some years ago. Today, they are skilled paddlers, who enjoy exploring Georgia’s waterways.

“The Nature Conservancy recognized the uniqueness of Georgia’s coast several decades ago,” Ruth said. “We have made new friends and enjoyed working with them to help further The Nature Conservancy’s efforts to protect the coast for years to come.”
