Nature Conservancy Statement on Florida Gov. Charlie Crist’s FY09–FY10 Budget Recommendations

The Nature Conservancy’s Florida State Director applauds Governor Crist’s recommendation on full funding for Florida Forever.

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL — February 20, 2009 — The Nature Conservancy’s Florida State Director Jeff Danter issued the following statement regarding Gov. Charlie Crist’s proposed FY09–FY10 State Budget and full funding — $300 million — for Florida Forever, the state’s premier land conservation program:

“The Nature Conservancy appreciates very much Governor Crist’s commitment to Florida Forever and to our state’s long-term environmental and economic well-being.  We look forward to working with the Legislature to continue Florida Forever.  This is a prudent, long-term investment in Florida's future," said Jeff Danter, The Nature Conservancy’s Florida director.

In 2008, Florida Forever was reauthorized for 10 additional years by the Legislature and Governor.
