Florida Forever: How You Can Help

We need your help today. Tell Florida’s leaders that you support funding for conservation:

  • Urge Governor Crist to support the Florida Forever program and to take advantage of today’s favorable market for conservation. Now is the time to invest in nature.
  • Urge your local officials (city and county) to pass a formal local government resolution advocating continued Florida Forever funding and call on them to encourage their state senators and state representatives to support a new, more potent Florida Forever. Visit the Florida Forever Coalition's Web site for a list of counties and cities that have passed resolutions in support of Florida Forever.

Tips for Contacting Legislators About Florida Forever

  • Find out who your legislators are. Go to www.vote-smart.org, which has a database of all elected officials searchable by ZIP code.
  • Call your legislators on the phone (Some legislators do not regularly review their e-mail.) If you have the chance to speak to a legislator in person, please take advantage of it. This is by far the most effective way to contact them.
  • Write a letter and mail or fax it to your legislator's office. Use this sample letter to guide you.
  • No matter how you contact your legislator, be sure to inform him/her that you are a voter who lives in his or her district.
  • Please let us know when you've contacted your legislator and whether he or she indicated support for increased funding to Florida Forever: floridaforever@tnc.org
