Conservation Learning Center DWP
The Conservation Learning Center is a sustainable building that is energy efficient and equipped with solar and geothermal technologies.

Programs & Workshops

Conservation programs are available for groups (college age and up) interested in learning more about mitigation, restoration and stewardship. Children’s activities are not available; however teachers can visit the preserve with their students. Educational materials are available upon e-mail request to Letty Zook.

Natural Areas Training Academy

The Natural Areas Training Academy (NATA), a partnership with the University of Florida, holds various workshops at The Disney Wilderness Preserve. The academy provides a forum for land managers to collaborate during field-oriented workshops. Learn more about NATA.

The Conservation Learning Center seeks to expand on the successful model of The Disney Wilderness Preserve, sharing the innovative strategies pioneered here to advance collaborative conservation opportunities elsewhere.

The Disney Wilderness Preserve's Conservation Learning Center, a member of the Organization of Biological Field Stations, is a campus of indoor and outdoor research labs used to implement The Disney Wilderness Preserve’s conservation programs. The Nature Conservancy uses the preserve's restoration and stewardship activities as a demonstration platform to exchange research results and to promote new conservation practices.

Programs at the learning center reach out to corporate leaders, government agencies, educators, administrators, scientists and the community at large. The learning center is not so much a place as it is a new way of doing business—one that values science, fosters education, builds partnerships and promotes the sharing of research results to guide future stewardship in Florida and around the world.

The center offers conservation practitioners a “hands-on” way to learn about this effort and to implement such strategies on their own lands and in their own communities.

For more information about programs offered at the Conservation Learning Center, e-mail Letty Zook.
