Jennifer Pyle: Long time volunteer

While pursuing a change in career from a large corporation to the environmental field,
I began volunteering at The Nature Conservancy.  The work is very gratifying and gives one a chance to “give-back” to the environment, not to mention the fun and camaraderie with the other wonderful weed team members.  I believe that volunteering is a civic duty that everyone should enjoy!  There are so many areas of volunteer work to choose from in our neck of the woods....
I chose the environment!

More about Jennifer and her volunteer efforts…
Jennifer is one of the chapter’s many volunteers. She has been helping us out since 1995 beginning with water flow monitoring at Milford Neck Preserve, road cleanups at Port Mahon, and tree planting at McCabe Preserve.  In 2000, she and several of her friends worked on the Horseshoe Crab Survey at Big Stone Beach. Since then, she and her friends have returned to help with the survey every year.

Jennifer is one of the original members of the chapter’s Weed Team, a dedicated corps of volunteers focused on invasive exotic weed control work. Weed Team members help staff document populations of exotic weeds, plan weed control activities, and work to remove these invaders from our preserves. The team got started in 2003 and has worked on over 50 acres at the Milford Neck Preserve.

Jennifer has also helped out with our reforestation efforts by planting trees every spring since 2000. Since 1999, the chapter has worked at Milford Neck to restore native forest to 94 acres of farm land to their former forested condition. Her hard work and dedication over all the years is evident in the growing forests of Milford Neck.
