Chelsea’s biggest move towards going "green" involved purchasing a lower emissions vehicle, although she carpools whenever possible. She’s also a frequent visitor to the yard-waste recycling center on Polly Drummond Road.

Nature.org: Have you always had an interest in conservation?

Chelsea Todd: I’ve always had an interest in nature. Spending time outdoors centers me. I enjoy hiking and running outside. And although I don't get to do it often, I love snorkeling and trying new outdoor adventures whenever I get the opportunity.

Nature.org: How did your career path lead to working with The Nature Conservancy?

Chelsea Todd: I have always felt very strongly about working for an organization with a mission I believe in. It was easy for me to fall in love with the Conservancy’s mission, which is essentially preserving life all over the Earth, from plants and animals to entire ecosystems. Even though I’m not working on conservation directly, I feel very lucky to be a part of what I consider the solution to some of the Earth’s greatest environmental challenges.

Nature.org: What projects have your focus right now?

Chelsea Todd: I attended a New Employee Workshop at the Conservancy’s headquarters last fall, and that helped me become acclimated to this large international organization. Currently, I’m learning new financial systems and processes. I’m also supporting the chapter as it moves forward with developing and implementing a three-year strategic plan.

Nature.org: What do you hope to tackle over the next couple of years?

Chelsea Todd: I plan on making sure the chapter’s two offices continue running effectively in order to achieve some of it's larger goals. Personally, I look forward to visiting the Conservancy’s nature preserves around Delaware and in other states.
