November 20, 2009: The Nature Conservancy’s Burnham Brook Preserve Temporarily Closed for Deer Management Program
The Nature Conservancy will be coordinating a deer hunt at Burnham Brook Preserve in East Haddam during the upcoming firearms deer hunting season. The goal of the hunt is to reduce the negative impacts of forest overbrowse in these important habitats.

November 09, 2009: Devil’s Den Preserve to Close Weekdays For Limited Deer Hunt
This fall, The Nature Conservancy will hold its controlled deer hunt during the upcoming State-designated shotgun/rifle hunting season which is open from November 18 - December 8. We will be conducting our management effort only on the following weekdays: November 18 - 19 (Wednesday, Thursday); November 23 & 24 (Monday & Tuesday); November 30 – December 4 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday); and December 7 & 8 (Monday & Tuesday).

August 31, 2009: The Nature Conservancy Helps Expand National Wildlife Refuge

May 04, 2009: The Nature Conservancy Awarded $500,000 For Seagrass Restoration Research
Seagrass has received a significant boost thanks to a $500,000 research grant (H.R. 1105, the Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009) co-sponsored by Congressman Timothy Bishop (NY-01) and Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03). These overlooked, but essential underwater flowering plants, form dense stands in shallow salt-water bays and harbors, and provide critical habitat for local fish and other marine life.
