Preserve Visitation Guidelines

Preparing for a visit to any preserve depends on your interests. As a general rule, however, you will enjoy your visit most if, depending on the location and time of year, you:

  • wear comfortable walking shoes
  • bring water
  • bring insect repellent
  • bring sunscreen

To enhance your enjoyment of nature, consider also bringing:

  • binoculars
  • hand lens
  • field guides to birds, flowers, trees, insects, or other items of interest

Dogs, even when leashed, can be harmful to the habitat of rare plants and animals.  Please leave your pet at home.  No hunting, fishing or camping is allowed on Conservancy land.

You are welcome to bring a picnic lunch to our preserves, but please leave no trash—it’s not just unsightly, but it can attract species that may be harmful to rare plants and animals. Remember, take only pictures, leave only footprints!

Remember, if you are visiting a site accessed by canoe or kayak, keep safety in mind at all times, and be sure to have a personal flotation device on board for every passenger.

Finally, if you encounter any problems during your visit, please report them to The Nature Conservancy at ct@tnc.org or (860) 344-0716. Please describe the problem and its location as exactly as you can, and include your name and telephone number, so we can follow up with you.

Thank you, and visit often!
