Since its founding in 1958, The Nature Conservancy has worked on more than 100 projects and preserves in California.  Many mature projects and preserves, however, are now managed by other organizations - for example, local conservation organizations or appropriate public agencies. We call these "legacy" projects or preserves.

Legacy Projects:
Carrizo Plain National Monument (1988-1997)
Elkhorn Slough Reserve (1971-1993)
Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes (1985-2000)
