There are several organizations you may want to contact. Greenbelt Alliance is a membership organization concerned with the metropolitan regional planning and open space needs of the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area. The organization conducts research and educational programs, works with local & regional civic & governmental leaders and advocates policies that carry out it goals. www.greenbelt.org, or (415) 398-3730.

Sierra Club is active throughout the U.S. in nearly all areas of environmental concern. Their major activity categories include studying and influencing public policy grassroots organizations, publications, and outdoor activities. www.sierraclub.org, or (415) 977-5500.

The Trust for Public Land can help you locate the closest county land trust office near you. Known for being a problem-solving organization, TPL works to acquire an interest in land until it can be sold to public agencies or nonprofit conservation groups for protection as parks, community gardens, etc. www.tpl.org, or (415) 495-4014.
