Hassayampa River Preserve

Visitor Center Host
Welcome visitors to the preserve and introduce them to The Nature Conservancy and the natural and human history of the preserve.  Desired commitment of one or two shifts per month, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday - Sunday.

Preserve Steward
Maintain, reroute and stabilize trails, clear brush, repair fencing, eradicate invasive plants, and spruce up the desert garden. Bring gloves, hat, water, and snacks in a day pack that you can carry.  Be prepared to get dirty.  We often hike into areas of the preserve that are not open to the public.  Children must be 12 or older to participate. Please notify us in advance if you have any medical or physical limitations.  One-time individual and corporate and organizational groups are always welcome.  Limited to 20 people per shift. Desired commitment of one or two shifts per month, from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

 

Trail Docent
Lead adult and student groups on interpretive nature walks within the preserve to provide a high quality visitor experience. Tours are scheduled Wednesday - Saturday as requested.

 

Administrative
Assist with general office tasks, help with the quarterly newsletter and event publicity. 

 

Building Maintenance
Assist with general repair and maintenance of the Visitor Center and other buildings within the preserve complex. 

 

Bird Banding
Band birds, collect and record data. Banders meet two times per month on Saturday or Sunday.  Training provided. Call for schedule.
