About WWF-Canada WWF-Canada's 2000 - 2005 Conservation Program is tackling some of the most daunting conservation challenges facing the country, as well as the broader international community. Specifically, WWF-Canada is working with partners to complete a national network of marine protected areas, identify and conserve High Conservation Value Forests, safeguard the Arctic, and support leading-edge research to protect Canadian wildlife and habitats. WWF-Canada employs a range of tools to achieve its conservation results. These include field research, scientific mapping, policy initiatives, market solutions and public education. WWF-Canada works closely with local communities and others who share the common goal of protecting the natural world. WWF-Canada and TNC Working in partnership, The Conservancy and WWF-Canada are assisting forest industry companies to identify and conserve High Conservation Value Forests on lands where they seek sustainable wood product certification. The Conservancy's Boreal Forest scientist is also working with WWF-Canada to identify ecological regions within the Boreal Forest where both organizations can engage with First Nations, provincial governments and natural resources development companies to draft and implement comprehensive protected areas strategies. |
