Conservation Training and Resource Center (CTRC)
The Conservancy joined with nine Indonesian and international organizations to establish the Conservation Training and Resource Center (CTRC) in Bogor. The Center's mission is to build capacity for conservation in Indonesia by developing a conservation curriculum and providing training for natural resource managers. In order to achieve its goals, CTRC conducts conservation training courses in the following areas:

  • Priority setting: Eco-regional planning, mapping, state-of-environment analysis;
  • Conservation strategies: theoretical tools, site conservation planning, partnership development;
  • Taking action: practical field experience, case studies, field-based conservation techniques. arrow right

Coral Triangle Center
Established in 2000, The Nature Conservancy's Coral Triangle Center in Bali is uniquely positioned to address threats to the world's most biodiverse seas and help people reap their benefits sustainably. The Coral Triangle Center works closely with local and international partners to develop and support marine conservation policies. This includes:

  • chairing a national MPA Taskforce for forming strategies;
  • supporting collaborative management strategies for Indonesia’s protected areas;
  • and developing business plans that create continuing and sustainable sources of funds for marine conservation, including ecotourism joint ventures to support national parks.

Forest Program
Indonesia's forests are being lost at the allarming rate of over five million acres per year. However, there is hope for Indonesia's forests.  Awareness of the crisis is increasing among timber producers and consumers.  To promote responsible forest management in Indonesia, The Nature Conservancy and the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF) are leading a Global Alliance that brings together business, governments, and environmental groups to combat illegal logging and create market links to promote wood from well-managed forests.
