Buying land to create new nature reserves or to expand existing protected areas remains an attractive option in Australia. As a leading force in developing creative options for financing conservation internationally, the Conservancy and its partners have established the Australia Land Acquisition and Management Fund as a means to provide seed money and attract matching funds for land acquisition and other conservation activivities in Australia. In just one year, the Conservancy has helped Australian partners acquire more that 650,000 acres of conservation land in the states of Queensland and Victoria.
