- In September and October, Jora Young, the Director of Science and Special Projects for the Florida Chapter, worked with Watermark, Inc. to develop a plan for the rehabilitation of Heart Morass, an 1800-hectare wetland in the Gippsland Lakes of Victoria.

- Rob McKim, State Director for the Minnesota Chapter and VP for the Great Plains Division, spent three months in Perth in early 2001. Mr. McKim helped establish governance mechanisms for Bush Bank, a new conservation revolving fund, and helped several fledgling community-based conservation groups develop strategies and skills.

- Kent Wommack, former State Director for the Maine Chapter and current Australia Country Program Director, spent a month working with the Executive Director and Board of Trustees of the Australian Bush Heritage Fund. Topics covered included executive leadership, fundraising and management – of both personnel and property at remote locations.

- In June, the Conservancy’s Greg Low, Vice President for US Conservation, conducted an Efroymson Site Conservation Planning workshop for Australian partners in Emerald, Queensland. Participating organizations were the Australian Bush Heritage Fund (which hosted the meeting), Trust for Nature, the Blackwood Basin Group and Bush Bank, from Western Australia, and the Australian Landscape Trust. Birds Australia (represented by David Baker-Gabb) and the Queensland Wildlife Protection Society (represented by Jan Oliver) also participated as observers.

- Jeanne Phillips, Director of the Development Learning Center, spent three months working with the staff and Board of Trustees of the Trust for Nature on development and major gifts strategic planning and training.
- Philip Tabas, Deputy General Counsel, worked with tax experts and non-profit leaders to identify tax law revisions that would support philanthropy and conservation, and developed strategies for promoting those revisions.
