Replanting the Bush: Letter from Keith Bradby

Keith Bradby is the Manager of the Gondwana Link Project in southwestern Western Australia. One of the goals of the Gondwana Link Project has long been to restore native vegetation to previously cleared lands. Keith sent us this note describing how project partners have begun working on this important goal, on a preserve called "Cowboy Country" (for the cliffs and mesas that make it look like the backdrop to a western) that was recently acquired by Greening Australia's Western Australia Chapter, a Gondwana Link partner:

For the farm boys among you, it's a converted 20 Disc Chamberlain plough with a modified combine attached, and a few other bits and pieces.

It re-seeds bush at about 10 acres an hour, and will do about 250 acres this year while we see how well it works and what refinements are possible

Next year the only constraints may well be how much land we can secure and how many of these we can sit on for how long

Thank you all for your help in getting us to this important stage!

Regards,

Keith Bradby
