Brief Biography
Paula Seamon has worked for The Nature Conservancy's national fire program for 14 years, presently serving as the organization's Director of Fire Management and Training. Much of her work focuses on representing conservation interests in collaborative partnerships with state and federal agencies. She serves as project manager for Restoring Fire-Adapted Ecosystems, a cooperative effort with federal and state agencies to meet the goals of both the U.S. National Fire Plan and Conservation by Design. She is the past chair of the Joint Fire Science Program Stakeholder Advisory Group. Her duties also involve risk management, oversight and mentoring of the Conservancy's fire practitioners, and instructing in numerous TNC, state and federal courses. Her professional interests include smoke management and air quality issues, and technology transfer. Prior to joining the Fire Initiative, Paula worked for The Nature Conservancy in New York, and for the National Audubon Society in Florida.
