First-Ever Nature Conservancy Photo Contest in Full Swing
Winning nature pictures will be seen by millions
Arlington, VA — October 30, 2006 — Today, The Nature Conservancy announced that its first-ever digital photography competition has received more than 3,000 submissions of stunning nature pictures in just under one month. The 2006 Photo Contest is welcoming digital images of landscapes, waters, plants, animals, humans in the outdoors, and of Nature Conservancy preserves around the world.
“Whether photography is an occasional habit or you develop images in your very own darkroom, The Nature Conservancy is seeking your photos,” said Sue Citro, Senior Digital Membership Manager.

“So if you have an incredible photo from last year’s vacation at the beach, from a family outing to a nearby Nature Conservancy preserve, or even of a blue jay in your backyard, you can submit the image for a chance to win.”
Grand prizes will be awarded in two different categories, the Best Nature Photo and the Best Photo from a Conservancy Preserve, and will be selected from a pool of twenty finalists.
The Best Nature Photo will be featured on the Conservancy’s website, www.nature.org, which is visited by over 3 million people a year, and the Best Photo from a Conservancy Preserve will be printed in the 2008 Nature Conservancy calendar that is seen by nearly 1 million people a year.
To enter one or more images, upload your photo(s) to the Conservancy's free public group on Flickr™ and follow the instructions provided on Flickr™ to submit your pictures to one of our two categories. Or, if you prefer, you can complete our online form and e-mail each photo, one at a time.

The competition is open to amateur photographers age 18 or older who are residents of the United States, and all images must be submitted by 11:59pm, PST on Sunday, December 31st, 2006.
