El Roble (Ecological Protection Area) within Chile's Matorral ecoregion. At 2200 meters, El Roble is a semi-arid area dominated by large rock outcrops and supports a large reptile and avian population. Of all the ecoregions in Chile, the Matorral ecoregion is the most poorly definied and the least protected. It is now at the forefront of TNC's conservation focus. © Tom Crowley
