Santa Fe Water Fund

Santa Fe Water Fund

| views

"The Nature Conservancy has teamed up with the City of Santa Fe, New Mexico, to create a ""water fund"" to help the US Forest Service conduct controlled burns in the Santa Fe National Forest. These burns help reduce the chance of wildfires which can cause erosion into reservoirs that provide drinking water to the city. The water fund presents a way for water users downstream to invest proactively in the health of key natural lands rather than face high costs of cleaning up fire-related damage to their water supplies."
