Based in Portland, Oregon, Portugal. The Man is a rock band first founded in Wasilla, Alaska. Consisting of John Gourley, Zachary Scott Carothers, Jason Sechrist, and Ryan Neighbors, the band has been steadily building a devoted fan base since their inception in 2003.
In The Mountain In The Cloud is Portugal. The Man’s sixth full-length album in as many years. It was called “a revelation,” and “one of 2011’s best albums,” by KCRW’s music director Jason Bentley.
Since their first album, Waiter: You Vultures, was released in 2006, Portugal. The Man has released an album each year, while also touring widely. 2007’s Church Mouth was followed by their third album, Censored Colors (2008), described by NPR Music as “a lot to digest in a single listen. It's an incredibly lush, beautifully layered collection of trippy songs with lots of unexpected sonic twists and turns.”
The Satanic Satanist and American Ghetto were released in 2009 and 2010, respectively.
