Huiro children celebrate the Environment Day at the Reserve

Monday, 09 June 2014. Valdivian Coastal Reserve. Surrounded by a privileged natural environment also described as one of the best examples of conservation in the world, ten children who are students of the Huiro rural school commemorated the Environment Day walking along the Los Colmillos trek located in the Valdivian Coastal Reserve.

The objective of the visit was to identify birds, trees and shrubs that grow and live in the reserve. Maria Prado, school teacher, valued the importance that this type of activities gave her students. “We are delighted with the place, because it is in an excellent condition for the children to visit. Additionally, the Huiro children do not have any entertaining activities where they live and the fact of visiting a place as pretty as this, is a real gift for them ”, she said.

The Huiro school also actively participates in the workshops on environmental education that The Nature Conservancy (TNC) has been organizing at the Reserve for years now.

TNC also took part in the commemorative activities of the Environment Day organized by the Municipality of Corral.
