Private Nature Reserves Network

Private Reserves are born from the willing and interest of landowners that want to protect the natural patrimony of their lands and work as complement of public protected areas. In most cases, they harmonize biodiversity protection with some productive activities developed in a sustainable manner such as tourism, agriculture or ranching.

This initiative is part of the Empowering Conservation at Private Lands Project, coordinated by Vida Silvestre Foundation and funded by the “Fondo para las Americas”, and it´s aimed at promoting the voluntary conservation at private lands searching for synergies in the combined effort of all its members.

At present, there are 152 Private Nature Reserves in Argentina, covering more than 1.7 million acres and other 6 are under the process of being created

The Network is formed by: Asociación Aves Argentinas, Asociación Conservación Argentina, Asociación Tellus Conservacionista del Sur, Fundación Ambiente y Recursos Naturales, Fundación CEBio, Fundación de Historia Natural Félix de Azara, Fundación Ecologista Verde, Fundación Elsa Shaw de Pearson, Fundación Federico Wildermuth, Fundación Flora y Fauna Argentina, Fundación Hábitat & Desarrollo, Fundación Huellas para un Futuro, Fundación Naturaleza para el Futuro, Fundación Patagonia Natural, Fundación Proyungas, Fundación Rachel y Pamela Schiele, Fundación Temaikén, Fundación Vida Silvestre Argentina, The Conservation Land Trust and TNC.
