Help the environment and work with others who share your interest by volunteering!

Falllen Fall leaves in creek at Dolly Sods Wilderness area of West Virginia. Dolly Sods, where a flat, windswept expanse of subalpine heath barrens opens up to the sky. Stunted red spruce, ancient bogs and forlorn boulders define this haunting landscape, where creatures typically found in more northern environs roam oblivious to their geologic isolation. In order to protect these diverse plant and animal communities, The Nature Conservancy seeks to expand protection efforts and combat threats to Bear Rocks Preserve and the surrounding Dolly Sods area © Kent Mason

Welcome West Virginia Volunteers!

Work alongside Nature Conservancy staff to accomplish key outdoor, outreach and office work. Volunteers help save money and thus increase the efficiency of our conservation work.

Volunteer Opportunities

Ice Mountain Docent Training, June 2 - Every two years we hold docent training at the Ice Mountain Nature Preserve to train new docents interested in leading public hikes to this magnificent location. Find out how to get trained.
Burn Crew - We need help conducting prescribed fires. Find out how to get trained and get going with this important habitat maintenance work.
Preserve Monitor - We are looking for high-quality volunteers to help monitor preserves throughout the state.
