Jefferson County
Spring and early summer 2012
Part of our work at Dabob Bay is ensuring the water flowing into the bay is clean, and that means limiting soil erosion on the banks. We are planning to restore the natural state of the preserve by removing a small cabin and retaining wall. We need a volunteer with landscape architecture or similar expertise to visit the site with our project manager and help create a follow up plan for erosion control and replanting following the demolition. For more information or to apply, please contact Julie Edwards at julie.edwards@tnc.org.
Island County
Spring and early summer 2012
The Conservancy is partnering with Island County's Parks Department to complete a new property acquisition on Camano Island in Puget Sound and secure funding to install the parking, trails, viewpoints, and other infrastructure necessary to turn it into a new Natural Recreation Area owned and managed by Island County. The next phase of the project is applying for state grants that will fund infrastructure development, for which a professionally produced site plan is required. We are looking for a landscape architect who will be able to develop this site plan in consultation with the Conservancy and Island County staff at a volunteer or reduced cost. The site plan is needed by July 1, 2012. Please contact Kat Morgan at kmorgan@tnc.org for more information or to apply.
