The Conservancy relies on site stewards to help monitor our most heavily visited preserves. This can become habit-forming -- some stewards have been returning each year for more than 10 years!
Visit the preserve several times during the busy season to greet visitors, remind them about preserve rules and report to the Conservancy on any urgent issues. What a great way to get outdoors!
To sign up as a preserve steward, contact Barbara French at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (206) 343-4345, ext. 361.
Foulweather Bluff Summer Steward
Near the very northern tip of the Kitsap Peninsula, the Foulweather Bluff preserve encompasses a forest, a brackish marsh, and 3,800 feet of beach—making it one of the most valuable wildlife havens on the Kitsap Peninsula. The preserve provides habitat for a variety of birds, intertidal life and forest animals.
Spring and summer bring extra visitors to Foulweather Bluff for picnicking, bird watching and beach access. Volunteer stewards visit the preserve either weekly or twice per month to walk the preserve, greet visitors, answer questions and report observations and concerns to the Conservancy. Enjoy regular preserve visits to watch the resident osprey or relax on a driftwood log on the beach. Training will be held at the preserve in early May. Sign up now!
Ebey's Landing Summer Stewards
With its dramatic windswept bluff trail and expansive views of the Olympics and Puget Sound, Ebey’s Landing is an iconic landscape in western Washington. It was protected from development with the help of The Nature Conservancy.
Each year, we recruit volunteer stewards to help monitor the preserve, located on Whidbey Island near Coupeville. Our stewards visit the preserve during busy summer months and keep us informed of activities there. Shifts are two hours, twice per month. You can also sign up as a substitute steward if you prefer not to have a regular shift. It’s a wonderful way to hike the bluff trail or relax on the beach. A training session will be scheduled for late spring. Sign up now! For more information, please contact Barbara French at email@example.com or (206) 343-4345 ext 361.
