We are looking to expand our outreach and education by having trained volunteers lead naturalist hikes at our public access preserves around the state. Volunteers must have prior experience leading hikes and be generally familiar with a variety of subjects such as plant identification, biology, ecology, birding/animal identification, geology, invasive species, current conservation initiatives, preserve history, The Nature Conservancy, etc. Hikes will be scheduled at least 4 times on Saturdays between spring and fall at the preserve of your choice and as your schedule allows. Basic first aid/CPR certification preferred. Volunteer naturalists will lead hikes of no more than 15 participants and may assist in advertising for the hike through various means such as local newspapers, calendar of events and social media.
Contact Jen Dalke, volunteer coordinator, at jdalke@tnc.org or 434-951-0572 (w) or 540-335-1302 (c) for more information.
