Birding Tours at the Great Salt Lake!

May 18, 2014 - May 19, 2014

As part of the Great Salt Lake Bird Festival, the Conservancy will conduct tours at our Kay's Creek and Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve properties.

The Nature Conservancy in Utah is always a proud sponsor and host of the Great Salt Lake Bird Festival. The event this year will be a special one for the Conservancy: Our very own birder extraordinaire Tim Boucher will be the festival's keynote speaker, and we will be hosting two tours of our properties at the lake.

  • First, on Sunday, May 18 from 8-10am, Conservancy staff will host birders for a "behind the gates" tour of our Kay's Creek preserve. This wetland is closed to the public, and thus the tour will be a great chance to go where few get to visit, learn about our restoration work there, and see some beautiful birds!
  • And on Monday, May 19, from 5:45-9:30pm, we will conduct a twilight birding tour of our Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve. This will be a relaxing, family friendly tour of our hallmark preserve in Utah. Participants will have plenty of time to soak in the surroundings, enjoy the sunset, and observe the preserve's incredible wildlife.

Register for either or both events at the Great Salt Lake Bird Festival website. Space is limited!
