Conservation Milestones 2010 - New Faces

Seven new staff members joined our ranks.

2010 was a banner year for leadership at The Nature Conservancy of Texas, as we welcomed seven new staff members, including five new directors:

  • Cecilia Alatriz (Houston) |||| Associate Director of Philanthropy
  • Jorge Brenner (Corpus Christi) |||| Gulf of Mexico Project Director
  • Charles Kirk Feuerbacher (Victoria) |||| Texas Coastal Prairies Project Director
  • Adam Hickl (Collegeport) |||| Preserve Technician Mad Island Marsh
  • Barbara Laing (Austin) |||| Associate Director, Marketing & Communications
  • Justin Pack (San Antonio) |||| TIS Support Technician
  • Matt Phillips (Austin) |||| Government Relations Director
  • Christopher Pipes (Ft. Davis) |||| Davis Mountains Project Director

There were a few other new faces around the Conservancy this past year—a pair of hook-billed kites nested with their chick this past summer at Chihuahua Woods, the first-ever documented nest on the Rio Grande Valley Preserve. Although the nest was threatened by Hurricane Alex, all three birds survived.
